Four years after their last release, The Pretty Reckless are embarking on their next chapter with renewed energy – and with a single that takes no prisoners: ‘For I Am Death’ is the name of the new track, which was released today along with a music video.
With dark riffs, raw intensity and Taylor Momsen's unmistakable voice, the band delivers a track that falls somewhere between heavy rock and morbid fascination. Appropriately, Taylor appears in the video directed by Lewis Cater as the personification of death – a terrifying, supernatural figure surrounded by dark forces.
Taylor Momsen herself says about the meaning of the song: ‘With “For I Am Death”, I want the music to speak for itself. Everyone should decide for themselves what the song means. Maybe you think like me, maybe the meaning comes straight from your own heart – both are great. And: Rock “n” roll will never die.’
On tour as support for AC/DC
The new single follows a series of support shows with none other than AC/DC – as part of the gigantic ‘Power Up’ stadium tour, where The Pretty Reckless played to over three million people. Highlights included performances at Wembley Stadium, the Stade de France and the legendary Rose Bowl.
Since their debut Light Me Up, the band has been one of the most exciting acts on the US rock scene. Taylor Momsen is more than just a frontwoman – she is a bundle of energy, anger, melancholy and charisma. With their last album Death by Rock and Roll, the band proved how pain, loss and rock music can merge.
Now it's time for the next step: For I Am Death – loud, dark and very clear: The Pretty Reckless are back.
