Linkin Park surprise with female singer on comeback

Nu metal band Linkin Park surprised everyone at their comeback, an hour-long live gig in Los Angeles, with a female singer to replace Chester Bennington, who died seven years ago. Emily Armstrong is the name of the 38-year-old, who is probably only known to die-hard music fans. Emily previously fronted the rock band “Dead Sara” - the self-defined “greatest opening band in the world”.

In addition to Emily, Colin Brittain on drums is another new member in the band's line-up.

Fans all over the world were immediately able to see the qualities of the new front woman for themselves - the concert in LA was streamed around the world.

But that's not all the surprises. A new Linkin Park album has also been announced. “From Zero” is not coming anytime soon, but will be released on November 15th this year. Mike Shinoda explained that the title of the album refers both to the band's beginnings and to the new phase that now lies ahead of Linkin Park. “Sonically and emotionally, it's about the past, present and future - our signature sound, but new and full of life.”

With the first single release “The Emptiness Machine”, Linkin Park gives a first taste of the new album.

Anyone who wants to see Emily Armstrong and Linkin Park live will have the opportunity to do so this fall. The band has announced a worldwide tour - including appearances in New York, London, Seoul and Hamburg.

The former frontman of Linkin Park, Chester Bennington, took his own life seven years ago at the age of 41. The band had been on hiatus since then.
