2024 seems to be the year of collaborations for Lacuna Coil. Just this spring, the Italian combo teamed up with Ash Costello, the singer of American metal band New Years Day, to release the powerful single 'In The Meantime'. Now they have gone one better by bringing Randy Blythe, the frontman of Lamb of God, on board. With his dark and deep growls, he complements the band perfectly. The result is the dark and at the same time beautiful single 'Hosting the Shadows'.

Atmospheric and "typical" Lacuna Coil

The single begins with a melancholy mix of strong synthesizers and gothic metal chords, as you would expect from Lacuna Coil - very atmospheric. Then the powerful riff kicks in emphatically, accompanied by strong drums. The beautiful vocals of Cristina Scabbia can already be heard in the background. Randy Blythe is in top form; his rough growls harmonize perfectly with Scabbia's voice. In the chorus, Cristina particularly shines with her warm vibrato.

Journey through light and darkness

The band themselves say of the song and the collaboration with Randy: "'Hosting The Shadow' is a journey through light and darkness, where silence reveals its hidden secrets. Obscure moments can be opportunities to evolve. You can learn to overcome your own shadow. This is extremely important in order to survive. Randy Blythe did an incredible job on this track. We love his voice and his evil laugh! Our admiration for him is endless. Having him guest on this song is a dream come true. We look forward to the day when we can play 'Hosting The Shadow' live together!"

Bands are friends

Randy adds: "I was really happy when Lacuna Coil asked me if I would sing a song with them. Not only am I a huge fan of their music, but they are truly beautiful souls who have been like family to me for the last 20 years. We have played concerts together all over the world. I've always wanted to jump on stage and sing with them. Now I can't wait for it to finally happen with 'Hosting The Shadow'!"
