Dark Divas says goodbye

At the end of January, we will be shutting down the Dark Divas website. Not out of resignation. But as a conscious, deliberate decision.

From the very beginning, Dark Divas was a voluntary project — driven by passion, conviction, and the desire to make a difference. For over four years, we invested time, energy, and heart into making women in metal visible, naming injustices, and questioning existing structures. But that same voluntary commitment has gradually become a burden: no longer sustainable in terms of time, and no longer reasonable from a financial perspective.

This is not failure. This is honesty.

Four Years of Resistance – And Real Impact

Dark Divas was never meant to be comfortable.
And it never was.

Over the past four years, we encountered resistance — mostly from men, sometimes from women, from parts of the music industry, from structures that prefer silence over change. At times, even from artists themselves.

We could use this moment to settle scores.
We won’t.

Because that would go against everything Dark Divas stood for:
stance over hate. analysis over polemics. clarity over cynicism.

At the same time, this resistance proves one thing very clearly:
our work was necessary. And it still is.

Proud of What We Built

We are proud that Dark Divas became a recognised voice within the international metal scene.
That we sparked conversations.
That we made perspectives visible which are too often ignored.
That we contributed to greater fairness, equality, and visibility — even though there is still so much work to be done.

And that is exactly why Dark Divas does not disappear entirely.

Instagram Stays. And It Gets Sharper.

Dark Divas will continue – smaller, but sharper.

On Instagram, we will keep shining a light on uncomfortable truths. More clearly. More uncompromisingly. More unapologetically.

Because those who polarise are heard.
And those who challenge the status quo create movement.

Thank You!

A project like Dark Divas is never a one-person story.

Our deepest thanks go to everyone who helped shape, carry, and grow this project — first and foremost: Lea, Thomas, Amanda, Jennifer, and Julia.
Your commitment was immense. Thank you.

And thank you to my team at the agency voor.
Not everyone shares their boss’s musical obsession — but you still invested time, energy, and belief in the cause. That is anything but a given.

Dark Divas was never just a website.
It was — and remains — a stance.

See you on Instagram.
