Zuberoa Aznárez

Zuberoa Aznárez Mauleón is a Spanish mezzo-soprano and is known as the female singer and songwriter of the symphonic metal band Diabulus in Musica.

Musical career

She is the daughter of pianist Maite Mauleón Orzaiz. Her musical career began at the age of 8, when she took flute and music theory lessons, before later taking classical singing lessons in Pamplona.

When Zuberoa's previous band, Dragon Lord, broke up in 2006 (without being able to release their already recorded album), she formed Diabulus in Musica with her future husband Gorka Elso (formerly Dragon Lord), with whom she later had two children. Their first album, "Secrets", was released in 2010 by the American label Metal Blade Records. Since then they have released 5 albums (under the Austrian label Napalm Records), with renowned guests such as Mark Jansen, John Kelly from The Kelly Family, Ailyn and Thomas Vikström.

Parallel to DiM, Zuberoa has a solo project that focuses on folk and classical elements, and she also sings in two other bands: Dryades, a folk and new age project, and Tragul, a symphonic metal project founded in 2017 by Adrian Benegas.

Personal life

Zuberoa Aznárez Mauleón is married to her bandmate Gorka Elso. She is a vocal technique teacher specializing in the rehabilitation and improvement of the professional spoken and sung voice, trained at the University of Alcalá. She is also a historian, with a degree in History and History of Art from the University of Navarra.
