Emily Armstrong
Emily Armstrong (born May 6, 1986 in Los Angeles) has been the frontwoman of Linkin Park since 2024. She was previously the singer of the band “Dead Sara”.
Emily Armstrong is one of the most striking female voices in modern rock. As the frontwoman of the US band Dead Sara, she has made a name for herself with her powerful vocals and impressive stage presence. Since 2024, she has been the new lead singer of Linkin Park, bringing a breath of fresh air to one of the most influential rock bands of the 2000s.
Alternative rock with attitude
Born in Los Angeles in 1986, Emily discovered music at an early age. Her influences are diverse: Nirvana, Fleetwood Mac and Courtney Love. She began writing her own songs at the age of 15 and soon after founded the band Dead Sara together with guitarist Siouxsie Medley. The band name comes from a misunderstood quote by Stevie Nicks and fits perfectly with the raw, unpolished sound that the band has embodied ever since.
Their debut album Dead Sara (2012) and the hit “Weatherman” were their big breakthrough. Emily impressed with pure energy, a strong voice and an unadorned attitude. Further albums such as Pleasure to Meet You (2015) and Ain't It Tragic (2021) cemented the band's reputation, especially in live performances, for example on tours with Muse, The Offspring and Halestorm.
More than a rock singer
Emily Armstrong has also repeatedly collaborated with other artists. She has performed with Courtney Love, written songs for Demi Lovato (Holy Fvck) and sung with Robby Krieger (The Doors) and Awolnation. Her voice combines the feeling of grunge with emotional depth - without pathos or posturing.
New front woman for Linkin Park
The next big step in her career followed in 2024: Linkin Park introduced Emily as their new lead singer. The first single “The Emptiness Machine” was released in the fall, followed by the album From Zero in November. Emily brings a new sound to the band and does not stand in the shadow of Chester Bennington, but opens a new chapter.
Emily is not afraid of clear words. She openly discusses her childhood in a scientological environment. After a controversial appearance at a court hearing in 2023, she published a statement and showed that she was taking responsibility.
