Elize Ryd came into contact with rock and metal music at a young age. She made her debut as a guest vocalist for the power metal band Falconer. Elize got to know Jake E. Lundberg (former singer of Amaranthe) and Olof Mörck (guitar) at the Cabaret Lorensberg in Gothenburg. Shortly after and after graduating from the Gothenburg’s Performing Art School in 2007, she joined a musical project with the two, which was named Avalanche. In 2009, the name was changed to Amaranthe.

Guest Appearances with Kamelot and Nightwish

Throughout her career, Elize frequently shared the stage with other bands, including being a touring vocalist for the melodic power metal band Kamelot, where Oliver Polotai (husband of Simone Simons) plays keyboards.

Her notable guest appearance with Nightwish took place in December 2013 in Denver, USA. When the band's singer at the time, Anette Olzon, was unable to perform due to illness, Elize and Alissa White-Gluz stepped in at short notice. The two singers performed with printed lyrics on stage – an event that was even featured in the Nightwish documentary "Please learn the Setlist in 48 hours." This evening also marked the end of Anette's time with Nightwish and the beginning of the new era with Floor Jansen.
