Angelica Rylin
Angelica Maria Estelle Rylin is a Swedish singer and songwriter with Australian roots. She is the front woman of The Murder of My Sweet.
Rylin, who was born in Stockholm to Swedish and Australian parents, began her career as a dancer at the Swedish Ballet Academy.
After discovering her talent as a singer with a singing teacher, she returned to Stockholm in 2002 and looked for a band and a manager. She worked in several other jobs until 2007, when she met Daniel Flores, with whom she founded the band The Murder of My Sweet. With the band, she released the single Bleed Me Dry, which reached 14th place in the Swedish singles charts. This was followed by several albums on Frontiers Music and AFM Records. In addition to singing, she is the band's main songwriter together with Flores.
She also released an album with Crash the System (The Crowning). She also released two solo albums as Angelica in 2013 and 2020. Thrive was released in 2013 via Frontiers Music and is stylistically similar to the works of her main band, but with slightly more AOR influences. 2020 saw the release of All I Am. Like its predecessor, the album was more oriented towards modern rock than the symphonic metal of her main band.
Her vocal style is essentially influenced by 1980s singers such as Bonnie Tyler, Whitney Houston, Pat Benatar, Kim Wilde, Robin Beck and Eurythmics (or Annie Lennox), but bands such as Pink Floyd, ZZ Top and Queen are also an important influence.
