The Pretty Reckless announce Christmas EP ‘Taylor Momsen's Pretty Reckless Christmas’

The holidays are getting a healthy dose of rock this year: The Pretty Reckless have announced their new Christmas EP, Taylor Momsen's Pretty Reckless Christmas. As a preview, there is already a new recording of the song ‘Where Are You Christmas,’ known from the classic film How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000).

Frontwoman Taylor Momsen sang the original as Cindy Lou Who back then, and exactly 25 years later she returns to this piece of her own history – this time as an acclaimed rock singer. The new version is now available digitally, with the complete EP being released digitally on 31 October and physically on 14 November via Fearless Records.

Revisiting ‘Where Are You Christmas’ 25 years later feels like coming home to a part of myself I hadn’t seen in a long time,” explains Momsen. I was just a child when I first sang the song, and I never thought it would stay with me for so long. Now, after all these years, I hear it with different ears – but its heart remains the same: it's about wonder, hope and holding on to magic – something we need now more than ever.

For the first time since the release of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Momsen reinterprets the song – this time as a powerful rock anthem. To mark the film's 25th anniversary, the warm ballad has been transformed into a modern, energetic tribute to a piece of pop culture. With her distinctive voice, Momsen bridges the gap between her early Hollywood beginnings and the unmistakable sound that has made The Pretty Reckless one of the most successful rock bands of recent years.

In addition to ‘Where Are You Christmas,’ the upcoming EP contains four other Christmas songs, all in the band's typical style – loud, emotional and uncompromising. ‘Taylor Momsen's Pretty Reckless Christmas’ shows the band's experimental side and proves that Christmas music can also be rock “n” roll.
