The Gems kick off the next chapter with their new single ‘Year of the Snake’

Following their debut album Phoenix (2024) and the single Live And Let Go, The Gems are opening a new chapter: their new single ‘Year of the Snake’ is out now – including the official music video.

Musically, the Swedish trio delivers a classic hard rock track, carried by bluesy vocals, powerful riffs and plenty of groove. It's a song that immediately sticks in your head and at the same time serves as a signpost for the coming year.

The band explains: "2025 is the Year of the Snake and is all about transformation, renewal and wisdom. It is a time that encourages us to approach changes in life thoughtfully and to shed old habits – just as a snake sheds its skin. This song is about all these things, packaged in a very classic heavy metal sound."

The Gems consist of former Thundermother members Guernica Mancini (vocals), Emlee Johansson (drums) and Mona Lindgren (guitar/bass). Together, they have already played on the biggest festival stages – from Wacken Open Air to Sweden Rock Festival – and toured with bands such as the Scorpions.

With their new line-up, they have quickly established themselves as a fresh force in modern hard rock. Their debut album Phoenix brought anthemic tracks and powerful live shows that took the band across Europe.

In 2026, The Gems will embark on their first headlining tour: ‘Slithering Through Europe’, accompanied by Swiss hard rockers King Zebra.
