Svalbard say ‘Goodbye’ with a final confession
Svalbard have released their very last song, ‘If We Could Still Be Saved,’ two days before the band embarks on their final UK headline tour. It's a painful farewell, but one that is just as powerful as everything Svalbard has stood for over the past 15 years.
19. Nov 2025
The new track embodies everything that made Svalbard so unique:
shoegaze atmosphere meets post-metal power, bitter melancholy collides with shimmering melodies. Serena Cherry, Liam Phelan, Mark Lilley and Matt Francis tear everything apart once again – five minutes of raw honesty, desolation, beauty and catharsis.
A final song that sounds like an open wound – and like a love letter to all those who have supported Svalbard over the years.
A farewell with dignity
"We spend most of our lives unaware that something could be the last time. This is the last time we will release a song as Svalbard. It's not only heavy on riffs, but heavy on meaning – a farewell gift to everyone who has supported us. Think of it as the metal version of “Goodbye” by the Spice Girls!'" says frontwoman Serena Cherry about the end of the band.
Svalbard were never just a band. They were a voice, a mirror, a beacon in a scene that too often stands in its own way.
With this final song, they draw the curtain – not quietly, but decisively.
Not resigned, but grateful.
This week marks the start of their final UK tour. After that: silence. But what remains is a 15-year legacy that speaks louder than any farewell message.
Svalbard are saying goodbye – in their own way. Honestly, intensely, and with a Spice Girls quote that we will never forget.
