Cage Fight releases new single/video, “Pig”
Unsolicited messages and inappropriate behaviour are a sad part of everyday life for many women online. UK metal band Cage Fight addresses this issue in their new single, ‘Pig’.

The focus of ‘Pig’ is singer Rachel Aspe, who uses the song to confront men who cross boundaries and harass women digitally. According to the band, the video for the single even contains real material. It shows messages sent directly to Rachel, as well as contributions from other women who shared their experiences for the project.
Rachel Aspe explains the motivation behind the track: ‘Pig is an expression of my disgust at men who send unsolicited intimate images and messages, cross boundaries and harass women digitally. I've received hundreds of these over the years and it's crazy to imagine that women receive such messages on a regular basis. I just wanted to shout my hatred at them, draw attention to the problem and show solidarity with other women who experience this abuse.’
Cage Fight's song highlights a problem whose extent is confirmed by recent studies. A survey of Generation Z women conducted by Amnesty International UK recently revealed how widespread online harassment is. According to the survey:
More than half (53%) receive inappropriate emojis on posts and photos
44% receive unsolicited explicit images
43% are subjected to body shaming
40% receive unwanted sexually suggestive comments
These figures underscore that the theme of ‘Pig’ is a central part of the digital everyday life of many young women.
Band activities
Musically, Cage Fight has already made a name for itself with its energetic live performances. The band has toured with acts such as Sepultura and Cro-Mags in the past, opened for Napalm Death and Employed to Serve, and played at festivals such as Summer Breeze and Bloodstock.
The band will soon embark on a five-day UK tour with Svalbard, which will also serve as Svalbard's farewell concerts.
